My thoughts about what was revealed in the family tree:
Bill and Fleur have three kids? I can see that.
Charlie never got married? That's surprising. He seems like such a nice guy.
George married Angelina? Is it Angelina Johnson? Interesting, because Fred is the one who took Angelina to the Yule Ball. Their son is named Fred... which makes complete sense.
I don't recognize the woman Percy married. It's touching that he named his daughter after his mother- it shows that they really reconciled.
I don't recognize the woman Draco married. Scorpius Hyperion Malfoy- that's a rough name for a kid.
The names of Luna's kids seem appropriately dreamy and Shakespearean.
I love the middle names of Harry's kids:
James Sirius- it's lovely that Harry honored them both. What an appropriate name for that kid. He seems like a mix of James and Sirius.
Albus Severus: we already knew about from the epilogue, but I like that both Snape and Dumbledore are honored together.
Lily Luna: How nice that they named their daughter after Luna. That really shows the strength of Harry and Ginny's relationship with her.
I also love that Arthur and Molly are Harry's inlaws and that Hermione and Ron are Harry's sister and brother in law.
What do you think?
Aww. I love it.
ReplyDeleteStrange about Charlie, though. Ah, well. He has his dragons, I guess.
Laura- I agree. That is a bit odd about Charlie, isn't it? There's always Norberta, though. =)
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing it's because of Charlie's lifestyle of high adventure and danger. And he does seem like someone who's totally absorbed in his work. I could see him feeling totally fulfilled with his work and his dragons. I'm sure he'd make a great uncle, too -- the sort that swoops in at holidays to bring cool and possibly dangerous artifacts to the kids.
ReplyDeleteYour right it is because of Charlie's "lifestyle" GLBT! Haven't the majority of you figured that out by now???
DeleteLisa- you make excellent points about Charlie. And I agree, he would make a terrific uncle.
ReplyDeletei don't think george should have gotten with angelina, it just doesn't seem like something george would do.
ReplyDeleteIt's probably because he doesn't get over Fred's death so thinks that if he marries Fred's ex, then there in a way closer.
DeleteI think that both of them had trouble getting over Fred's death. George married his twin's ex because she loved Fred as much as he loved his brother. And Angelina married Fred because he was exactly like his brother and he was the closest she could get to marrying Fred. I think that the love they had for Fred was redirected toward the mourner who loved Fred as much as they did: the other.
Deleteregarding the comment above
ReplyDeleteI agree it initially seems strange but i think that the pair would have bonded over their shared love for Fred and helped one and other through the difficult time after his death. For Angelina, she probably would have seen much of Fred in George. Plus Fred would have wanted the people he loved most to be happy. Overall, i think they make a sweet couple =]
Also, personally, i absolutely love Luna Lovegood, i'm quite surprised she didn't end up with Neville... They seemed like such a good match. I'm a little surprised that Neville isn't mentioned on the family tree at all, and that his name isn't included in one of the next generations names, it just seems strange that he's left out, after all he was a pretty main character.
The person Luna marries is the grandson of the author of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Many people wanted a Luna/Neville pairing, but don't know this important detail.
DeleteI thought I read somewhere that Neville married Hannah Abbott... Ii'm not completely positive though. At any rate, since he's a teacher at hogwarts, it would be hard to balance a family, wouldn't it? School all year round, if he and hannah are indeed together, they probably decided against children because he would be around so little.
ReplyDeleteI always liked the idea of Luna and Neville as well.
I personally feel a bit sorry for Ginny, all of their children, named by Harry, obviously... Well, I'm sure she gave her consent... But I can't believe that anyone with the name Ginevra would ever bestow upon her child a name like Albus Severus. It doesn't exactly roll off the tongue does it?
I CAN however see Draco naming his kid Scorpius. Poor bloke. All the othr purebloods at day care must have- oh... wait, no, they probably had names that were just as bad...
I agree with a couple comments above, I don't like it how George and Angelina got together. It doesn't seem to give twins respect in general because even if they look and act the same, they are still two different people.
ReplyDeleteJordan~ I agree how Charlie probably wouldnt feel like he wanted a family. Growing up with a HUGE family might have made him feel like he's got one already, even if he didnt start it. Plus, he seems like he wants the dangerouse life and wouldnt want to settle down. How sweet is it that harry and Ginny name their kid after Luna? But poor Neville nobody says he gets married, I realy hope he did marry Hannah Abbott. And does anybody know who had twins? I heard somwhere one of the decendants were twins.
ReplyDeleteI have a nearly perfect picture of James (Harry's and Ginny's child) simply, I morphed Bonnie Wright and Daniel Radcliffe together on morphthing.com, I mean it's not the perfect picture, but I mean, like, I guess he looks like harry with a weaseley twist.
ReplyDeleteI love it.
ReplyDeleteI hope there will be a Harry Potter: Next Generation Series that would be awesome if there was.
That would be so awsome :)
DeleteWay too cool
DeleteLoved this, it's nice to know what happened to everyone after book 7. :)
ReplyDeleteBut I would've liked Neville in there, I agree.
And to Jordan, I think I read that Luna's boys were twins.
J K Rowling conformed in a interview that Neville married Hannah
ReplyDeletemy friends all say i look and act a lot like Luna, and i have to say i completely agree and i have to say, if i were Luna i would be honored that harry and Ginny would name there kid after me!
ReplyDeleteI've made a video for the next generation of hogwarts: all grown up!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qv9hmminp1U
i heard that george and angelina has twin named roxanne and fred:/ i read it on fanfic but maybe they just made it up...
ReplyDeletei think its sad on neville i always thought he would get with luna i thought that they would make a cute couple.
also i heard jk rowling was maybe gonna make a next generation book because she misses writing about harry potter.
To the comment above, George and Angelina DID have kids. The WERE named Roxanne and Fred, but I'm not sure if they were twins.
ReplyDeleteAlso, JK said she would like to write a sequel, but she wouldn't because the story of Harry Potter is over. I would love one, personally, but I also think it might spoil the legacy.
I know this is like totally irrelevant to what we're supposed to comment about-but i couldnt help asking... How many of you think that the Great Hall ceiling shows the moods of Dumbledore? Like, when it is all thundery he is angry? Let me know ASAP...coz i've been reading in between the lines-harry potter is awesome!
ReplyDeleteWHAT ABOUT NEVILLE!!!????
ReplyDeleteNeville married Hannah Abbott. I personally would have preferred Luna with either Neville or Dean Thomas, from the way they had interacted with each other after being in Malfoy Manor, I hoped they would end up together. Well that never happened.
ReplyDeleteAlso, it has been said that Lorcan and Lysander were twins. It was speculated that Fred and Roxanne were, but it was never confirmed.
And who knows, we never learned the other kids' middle names, maybe one of them is named after Neville, perhaps Hugo?
Also, Astoria Malfoy (nee Greengrass) was never mentioned in the books, but Rowling said she is Daphne's younger sister by like a year or two (she never confirmed). We also do not know what house she was in, only that she was more than likely a pureblood, as Daphne was in Slytherin.
Audrey Weasley (nee unknown) was never mentioned before in the books, but it has been speculated that Rowling said something about Percy meeting her at work.
In the epilouge Roxanne is 9 and Fred Is 11.He is the Same age as James.
ReplyDeleteI think it's sweet that Harry and Ginny named there kids afterimportant people in their lifes.
I belive that Luna should be woth Neville or Dean Thomas.
The reason I beliveShe should be with Neville Is obivious.
The reason with Dean is for the way they bonded with each other after Malfoy Manor at Shell Cottage.
Plus in the books you never heard Dean call her "Loony" Lovegood
I agree with the comment above that Luna and Dean should be together because of the time spent at Shell Cottage...
ReplyDeleteI don't like how Harry and Ginny named their kids after Lily, James, Albus, etc. I think that their kids should have been a place to turn over a new leaf or something. It's nice to honour the dead, but if it were me, I wouldn't be able to live like that... I dunno.
Fred and Snape didn't die in 1997. They died (obviously) during the Battle of Hogwarts, which took place on May 2, 1998... just saying.
ReplyDeleteNeville and Luna people wathch the movie
ReplyDeleteI do not buy that Ron and Hermione only have two kids. I fully believed that they would have a large family...at least four.
ReplyDeleteI think that naming your children after your dead parents is a bit silly. I like what Hermione and Ron did- they gave them new, nice names with a probable sentimental middle name.
ReplyDeleteLUNA AND NEVILLE- ARE YOU KIDDING ME? They are such great friends, but unlike H&R, they never showed any love interest. I think it's great Luna married another character.
J.K Rowling said in an interview that Charlie had many affairs and flings but never wanted to be tied down, especially after his big family.
Does anyone know ALL the ages? Including Scorpius?
ReplyDeleteAt the time of the DH epilogue, Teddy was about 19 years old, since he was a baby during the war and the epilogue says "19 years later"
DeleteAlbus, Rose, and Scorpius are all starting their first year so they're 11.
Lily is going to go to Hogwarts in two years so she's 9.
With the context clues, it seems like James is 12, but we don't know for sure. Victoire is speculated to be 17 years old, in her last year at Hogwarts, but again we don't really know. None of the other next gen kids are even mentioned in the epilogue so we have nothing to go on there.
I'm sure Pottermore has the information, but i don't have access.
Oh I forgot about Hugo! We don't know Hugo's age either, but he was shown having an animated discussion with Lily, hinting that they are close, maybe because they're around the same age and therefore spend more time together?
Deletelove it but poor Charlie!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletei honestly hate that harry and ginny named their kid lily luna and not lily minerva. luna is awesome, yes, but mcgonagall was a motherly figure to harry... she was not only a superb witch but a woman who genuinely cared about harry and was sweet and loving although strict.
ReplyDeleteActualy the name Lily-Luna doesnt just honour Luna lovegood but also Remus. Luna is latin for moon, Harry wanted to honor Remus too but since he didnt get another son he named her luna.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure that this came through on a reply so I will post it again. When it comes to Charlie's "lifestyle" GLBT
