Who's your favorite character in the Harry Potter series?
I had a Harry Potter discussion party at my house this weekend, and was impressed by how many people said that Snape was their favorite character (and had been for the whole series).
This surprised me, so I put up a new poll (see the right hand side of the blog) asking this question. This was harder than it looks because there are SO many major characters. I picked fifty and alphabetized them all by last name, just to keep them straight. I would never be able to choose just one character, so I set up the poll so you can vote for as many as you like.
I know I left a bunch of characters off the list (for sanity's sake). If you want a full list of every last person that appears in the books, the best place to check is this exhaustive list at the Harry Potter Lexicon.
Snape is a complex and interesting character but wouldn't even rank in my top ten favorites. I would have to say my favorite character is Hermione (think book, not film adaptation). She's smart, sassy, and knows just when to stop the shrinking of her teeth.
ReplyDeleteSnape is firmly in the lead so far, and I only put the poll up yesterday! So, there must be a lot of people who like him.
ReplyDeleteI think he's one of the most intriguing... and yes, definitely one of the most complex (along with Dumbledore), but my favorite characters are ones that make me laugh: Fred, George, Luna, etc.
