Harry Potter Giveaway: Question 2

There's still time to enter my Harry Potter giveaway contest and win a prize pack of Books 5, 6, 7 in paperback! Full details are in this post.

Question 2: If you could bring one person in the Harry Potter series back to life, who would it be?

Here's the catch: You can only bring them back to life after the events of Book 7 are over.

Spoiler alert: don't keep reading if you haven't finished Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Several people responded to Question 1 that they didn't like the fact that Sirius died. So, of course, you could bring back Sirius, who was a great father figure to Harry. Or, you could bring back James, Harry's actual father. Or, if you were feeling mischievous, you could bring back Voldemort. Or Fred. Or Dobby. Or Dumbledore. Or the tons of other people that perished during the series. Your choice, but it can only be one person.

To enter the contest, simply reply to this post. Please leave a valid e-mail address or your entry is disqualified. You may leave a comment on any of my giveaway posts until the contest ends on July 7, 2009. If you already commented to Question 1, you get an extra entry by commenting on Question 2. U.S. residents only, please.

Also, be sure to vote in the new poll on the sidebar.

  1. Does it HAVE to be a person? Because the one being I honestly was the most upset about in the entire series was Hedwig. I lovedlovedloved Hedwig, and when she died, I didn't know if I could keep going with the book because if she wasn't safe, no one was.

  2. It doesn't have to be a person. It could be an animal, an elf, who or whatever you like.

  3. My daughter, M, says Dobby, because he's awesome and she misses him.

I say George (who, incidentally is NOT on your poll), because his death was pointless (except it gave the Weasley family something to grieve about). (But M also thinks George should come back.)

  4. Okay, I get them mixed up. It was Fred, not George. Sorry. I still think his death was pointless. :)

  5. Melissa- I agree with you about Fred. I had to put the book down for a while after I read that, even though I was at the climax. The point was that the Weasley's couldn't get out unscathed, but that death really crushed me. I've reread the book many times since, and always skip that part.

  6. Tricia said it best in her earlier post on your previous question -- wish Snape hadn't died in the last book. He was shown to be such the tragic hero, it would have been nice to see him vindicated and allowed him to go quietly into a peaceful, happy retirement.

  7. I've always had a crush on the Weasley twins, so I want to bring back Fred BUT... I would bring back Tonks. The thought of Andromeda losing her husband and her daughter, as well as orphaning Teddy just makes me too sad.

  8. I am now rereading Phoenix behind my son, so for this one I'm going to agree with all of the Sirius people from question 1. That part where Harry goes running with one last hope to Nearly Headless Nick -- ouch.

  10. I'd bring back Lupin and Tonks. I hated it when they died :(. Too terrible.

  11. I'd bring back Sirius - that way Harry would have some family alive to enjoy.
